About Ted and Shannon
Chef
Ted Mahoney has developed an extensive, eclectic menu to suit
the tastes of discerning clients. Ted began his cooking career
while still in high school, spending summers at Captain Higgins'
restaurant in Wellfleet, MA. After graduation, he went to Norwich
University in Vermont and was soon managing the kitchen of Miguel's
Stowe Away (Authentic Mexican) in Stowe. He returned to the Cape
for a long stint at the Lobster Pot in Provincetown before heading
to the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley for his formal
training as a chef.
As the marketing director of an art school and later as merchandiser
for a major cell phone company, Shannon carried out ideas seamlessly
for clients with a high standard of aesthetics and precision.
She was on her way back to school to become an interior designer
when she became an event coordinator for Sumptuous Catering. Shannon
and Ted's love of bringing together diverse elements to create
a cohesive whole is evident in the visual impact they create at
their events. The real art of staging something satisfying is
in making it look effortless. Shannon and her staff make the presentation
gracious and the mechanics invisible.
For Ted, the pleasure of his work is developing the menu, while
for Shannon it is crafting the presentation. Both love finding
new ways to creatively tailor each event. As their business has
evolved they've realized their reputation is based on more than
just food. Now, "Sumptuous Events & Catering" is
as much a product description as the name of the business.
